Investing in the Future: Our Library Transformation

The Blue Ridge School and Blue Ridge Early College Library stands as a cornerstone of our educational community, thanks to the steadfast support of the Blue Ridge School Education Foundation. This vital project has transformed our library into a state-of-the-art learning environment that caters to students from kindergarten through 13th grade.

A Vision Realized

During the 2018-19 academic year, the library's limited budget, which was slightly above $300 for all programs, was insufficient to meet the growing needs of our students. Recognizing the critical role of a well-equipped library, the Foundation generously contributed $15,000 to support elementary, early college, and overall library improvements.

Leadership and Innovation

With the arrival of our highly qualified librarian, Linda Potter, in the 2019-20 academic year, the library underwent a remarkable transformation. Ms. Potter's dedication and expertise have been instrumental in reconfiguring the space, adding new square footage, and incorporating modern furnishings.

Community Support

Our community's generosity played a pivotal role in this transformation. Philanthropist Craig Kolavo, founder of Computer Comforts, Inc., donated beautifully designed tables and cabinetry, creating an inviting and functional space for our students.

New Features

  • Collaboration Space: A new area for middle and high school students, featuring 4 trapezoid tables, 8 chairs, and a collaboration station with electric plugs for charging laptops.

  • Self Check-Out Station: Replacing the large wooden desk at the entrance, this new station allows students to independently check out materials, fostering a sense of responsibility and autonomy.

A Commitment to Excellence

Our library is not just a place for books; it is a hub for collaboration, learning, and innovation. With a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Purdue University and a Master's Degree in Library Science from The University of Southern Mississippi, Ms. Potter brings a wealth of experience to our library. Having taught for over three decades, including at Blue Ridge School and Scotts Creek School, her return has been a homecoming that promises continued excellence in our educational offerings.
